Photographs directly connected to the battalion, or to the places and equipment of Nels’s service. Most are official U.S. Army Signal Corps images held by the National Archives and in the public domain; family photographs are from the Bandy collection. The Mojave, Camp Davis, England, Normandy, Belgium, and Germany plates are scanned from “Battalion from the Mojave,” Vols. 1 & 2, the 535th’s own published history, credited to the individual veterans and families who originally loaned them to its author.
